Description

Join Dr. Karen Snider, an OMM specialist, and internal medicine specialist Dr. John Grider for this integrative approach to treating pneumonia. The program includes high-quality video demonstrations of practical techniques for physicians to incorporate into their patient treatment plans.

Learning objectives for this activity: 

1. Define pneumonia and discuss current diagnostic criteria

2. Explain the pathophysiology including the etiology, epidemiology, and risk factors of pneumonia

3. Discuss the clinical manifestations and the physical examination findings of pneumonia

4. Describe and administer the osteopathic manipulative treatment approach to management of the pneumonia patient and discuss the treatment goals of the various types of techniques

 

The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of 2.0 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

Karen Snider, DO, FAAO, FNAOME, is a professor at A.T. Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM).  Dr. Snider is board certified in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.  She earned her doctor of osteopathic medicine from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, and she completed residency at Northeast Regional Medical Center.  Dr. Snider has earned fellowship awards from the American Academy of Osteopathy and the National Academy of Osteopathic Medical Educators. She has no commerical interests related to the content of this program.


John J. Grider, DO, FACOI Related seminars and products: 1


Dr. John Grider is a graduate of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his medical residency in Internal Medicine at Northeast Regional Medical Center. Currently, he works for Emergency Medical Care in Kirksville and Acute Care in Booneville, where he practices emergency medicine as an independent contractor. Dr. Grider is a member of several professional organizations including the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association and the Missouri State Medical Association just to name a few. Dr. Grider is board certified through the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine. He discloses that he has no relevant financial relationships with any organization producing, marketing, reselling or distributing health care goods or services consumed by, or used on, patients relative to the content of his presentations.
