The Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

Dr. Smith's professional interests include interventions such as spinal cord stimulation, intrathecal pump placement, and cannabinoids. She is firmly committed to educating students, colleagues, and the community about pain management. She has successfully spearheaded an initiative at Mercy Hospital to create a lecture series about pain management. She is an adjunct professor at DMU and has codeveloped an elective course for health professions students about pain management and addiction medicine.
