During the COVID-19 pandemic, concerns about mental health and substance use have grown. Adults in poor general health continue to report higher rates of anxiety and/or depression than adults in good health. Physicians should increase prevention and intervention efforts to address associated mental health conditions and reduce potential harms of increased substance use.

At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to:

  • Describe critical concepts in assessment and management of depression
  • Describe critical concepts in assessment and management of substance use
  • Identify treatment of anxiety
